Good news! A nomination for THE GOODNESS GENE! See below...

Congratulations. Your book has been nominated as one of the twenty finalists for the Georgia Peach Book Award for Teen Readers in 2007-2008. The committee met recently and was so impressed with your book, The Goodness Gene, that it was nominated for the list of books that high school age students will read during the 2007-2008 year.

The purpose of the Georgia Peach Award is to highlight and promote the best current young adult literature for Georgia high school age students, to encourage young adults to read, and to promote the development of cooperative school and public library services for young adults.

THE MUSICAL, RETURN: has been entered in the New York Musical Theater Festival. Acceptance notices will go out on May 1. If we are accepted, our show will be performed at least six times, with the Festival opening on September 17 and running for three weeks. Donald McKayle is Director/choreograph,
William Kevin Anderson is Composer/musical director.Wish us luck! We'll keep you posted.

I have been doing school visits in the Los Angeles Community, discussing her books THE RETURN, JOURNEY TO AMERICA and THE CURE with 5th and 6th graders in Jewish day schools. In April I will be traveling to North Carolina to spend a day with private school students at Charlotte Country Day School.
My son, Daniel Levitin, is author of the best selling THIS IS YOUR BRAIN ON MUSIC, which has been nominated for the Los Angeles Times Best Book award in the category of Science and Technology. Daniel
has been traveling throughout the country to speak about his book, and has appeared on many TV and radio shows. I am so proud of him!

Look for my two new titles this summer:

JUNK MAN'S DAUGHTER: A rags to riches story about coming to America--from junk collector to tycoon.

STRANGE RELATIONS: Marne, a teen age girl from California, spends the summer in Hawaii with her aunt, who is very religious and also very hip. She and her husband run a Chabad House in Honolulu. Marne
plans to spend her summer days on the island surfing, running and meeting guys. But as she becomes acquainted with her seven cousins and various new friends, everyone is changed, and Marne comes to a
better acceptance of the tragedy that has almost torn her family apart.
